About AmaNkwanyana Royal Kingdom
The AmaNkwanyana Royal Family traces its origins to the ancient and formidable Ndwandwe Nation, one of the most powerful Nguni polities in what is today KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Rising to prominence from the 17th century, the Ndwandwe Kingdom established itself as a dominant military, political, and cultural power long before the consolidation of the Zulu Kingdom. As part of the Amambo–Nguni lineage, the Nkwanyana people originally settled in the region of Mfolozi emnyama near Bululwane, an area abundant in wildlife and strategically significant resources. The Nkwanyana were renowned hunters, particularly distinguished for their skill in hunting buffalo, a symbol of strength, endurance, and bravery in Nguni society.
